FORGET bar-top dancing. Bar-top putting has teed off in a big way at Union Square, an NTUC club at the Amara Hotel.
Division manager Adrian Khi declined to reveal sales figures, but said that 150 customers were par for the course at the club’s wine bar on Mondays, as opposed to 50 earlier.
It does take a certain love of the limelight for one to clamber atop the bar, albeit a little wider and lower than conventional ones. The music stops and a spotlight trains on the player judging his putt on a gently sloping green carpet. A mini-buggy and a sand bunker complete the illusion.
Each player gets three chances to sink the ball into any one of three holes. If the player succeeds, he gets a S$130 (RM286) bottle of whisky. Otherwise, he has to buy one. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
