JAKARTA: Authorities in one Indonesian province have started handing out face masks to pedestrians and motorcyclists as choking smoke haze from ground fires returns to the region, an official said yesterday.
Officials in Riau province on Sumatra island have also distributed bumper stickers urging the public to stop forest fires, said Fadrizal Labay, a forest protection chief.
