TAIPEI: Taiwan will sign an agreement to buy four guided missile destroyers from the United States in a deal valued at T$24bil (RM2.6bil), it was reported yesterday.
The deal, to be signed by the end of June, came about only after Taiwan's military agreed to reduce, under domestic opposition pressure, the purchase of 100 SM-2 Blok IIIA Standard missiles to 148, the China Times quoted an unnamed defence ministry official as saying.
