THE Shanghai Municipality has unveiled an ambitious strategy to vigorously exploit its vast suburban areas, which account for more than 90% of its land area.
Speaking at a municipal conference on suburban development recently, Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng said the city would push for major economic growth in agricultural production, boost the modern manufacturing industry and accelerate the construction of new towns in suburban areas.
