CHINA'S life assurance companies have received 163 Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) related claims as of May 8, and have paid out 522,100 yuan in compensation in 90 cases, the China Insurance Regulatory Commission said.
The commission said that insurers have paid out 242,800 yuan for people who have died of SARS, and 279,300 yuan to those receiving medical treatment.
