MANILA, Philippines (AP) - Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will be getting the star treatment in Washington, where she hopes to turn her loyalty in the wars on terrorism and Iraq into concrete benefits for her poor Southeast Asian nation.
Her weeklong U.S. trip, which starts Saturday and includes other stops in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco, also will provide a brief respite from troubles back home.
