BEIJING: The World Health Organisation expressed serious new doubts about the fight against SARS yesterday, saying there were “holes” in data for about half of the cases here and that Taiwan's outbreak is becoming more serious because officials cannot track down the infection source for a high number of cases.
Five new fatalities in China, four in Taiwan and two in Hong Kong boosted the worldwide SARS death count to 526. More than 7,200 people have been infected in over 25 countries, including 23 new cases in Taiwan – its biggest one day jump in case numbers.
