SHANGHAI: The fear of catching SARS in China has prompted a resurgence in the traditional gesture of bowing rather than the more western practice of shaking hands, state press reported yesterday.
The ancient Chinese greeting of bowing slightly with hands clasped at head-level has become more popular as people intent on avoiding Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome shun physical contact, the Shanghai Daily reported.
