BANGKOK: Thailand's brutal three-month war on drugs ends today, with a likely death toll of at least 2,200, but doubts remain over its long-term effectiveness in curbing the kingdom's huge use of methamphetamines.
The crackdown was an initiative of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who has labelled it a resounding success, brushing off international and local criticism over the number of deaths.
