JAKARTA: International mediators scrambled yesterday to salvage a peace agreement between Indonesia and separatist rebels in Aceh province after the government angrily cancelled emergency talks to address recent tensions over renewed violence.
The emergency talks had been scheduled for yesterday in Geneva, after much haggling over a venue and time. But after rebels called for an additional two-day delay, the government announced on Thursday it was pulling out.
