HONG KONG: A leading US health expert warned yesterday that it may be impossible to eliminate the SARS virus, which has killed more than 270 people worldwide, and stressed the need for an accurate diagnostic test to contain the outbreak.
However, Dr Jeffrey Koplan, the former director of the Atlanta-based Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), ruled out the possibility that the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome virus had mutated here.
