BANGKOK: Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has blamed lax police enforcement for the high road death toll during the Songkran festival.
A total of 569 people died in road accidents while 39,151 were maimed between April 11 and 16 as Thais ushered in their new year with the traditional water-splashing revelry.
