THE historic city of Xi'an in northwest China's Shaanxi Province has launched a programme to protect its oldest Muslim residential area.
The cultural relics left by traders, scholars and diplomatic envoys of China's West Regions in the Han (206 BC- 220 AD) and Tang (618-907 AD) Dynasties are the major focus of protection.
