HONG KONG: The Philippines reacted angrily yesterday to Hong Kong's 11% cut in the minimum wage of foreign maids, and its consul-general accused leaders here of reneging on a promise to provide her government with advance notice.
Consul-General Victoria Bataclan complained that Hong Kong officials leaked the information to journalists but set aside their pledge to tell the Philippines what was happening ahead of time. Hong Kong disputed her charge.
