CAGAYAN DE ORO, Philippines (AP) - Continuing a recent wave of offensives, Communist rebels attacked a government militia patrol base in southern Agusan del Sur Province and carted away high-powered firearms, the Philippine military said Tuesday.
In nearby Davao del Norte province, two rebels died in a clash with the army.Col. Juanito Abayao, chief of the army's 402nd Infantry Brigade, said some 50 New People's Army guerrillas raided the militia patrol base Monday in the farming village of Zamora in Talacogon town.
