A TELEVISION tower built in 1970 will be removed from Mount Emei to rescue dying firs at the world cultural and natural heritage site.
The 78m-high Jinding Television Tower, the tallest of its kind in south-west China's Sichuan Province, has been found to be a major killer of the local fir forest which covers about 10,000ha.
