SINGAPORE: The number of Muslims going on the annual haj to Mecca fell to an 11-year low this year partly due to the economic slump, travel agencies and religious authorities said yesterday.
About 3,400 Muslims have left for the pilgrimage, the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore said, the lowest since 1992 when more than 4,000 pilgrims went for the haj.
