Thais poised to break record for movie watching

BANGKOK: A group of bleary-eyed Thai movie buffs were poised yesterday to break the current 53-hour world record for continuously watching movies, organisers of the event said.

Some 172 people sat in on the record-breaking attempt in the capital when it kicked off on Friday, lured by 600,000 baht (RM53,000) in prize money offered by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, a spokeswoman said.

Officials from Guinness World Records would take a week to verify the evidence presented to it before announcing the record officially broken, the spokeswoman added. – AFP
