SEOUL: North Korea denied yesterday ever admitting to US officials that it had a secret nuclear weapons programme and threatened to unleash a “sea of fire” on the United States, as a top US envoy arrived in South Korea for talks on diffusing the crisis.
US Assistant Secretary of State James Kelly was scheduled to meet President-elect Roh Moo-hyun, who espouses diplomacy as the only solution to the crisis. Kelly also planned to meet Foreign Minister Choi Sung-hong and two presidential security advisers.
