TIBET generated 10.8bil yuan (RM4.9bil) in gross domestic product (GDP) in the first three quarters of last year, a jump of 12.9% over the same period in 2001.
Although Tibet has a weak economic base and its take-off lags behind other autonomous regions and provinces in western China, its economy developed rapidly over the last couple of years.
