TOKYO: The Japanese government has already signed a 20-year contract to lease Kubashima island in the East China Sea until 2012, despite an ongoing territorial dispute with China, a news report said yesterday.
The report came after Japan’s rejection of a formal Chinese protest against moves to lease three other disputed islands in the same group of islands called Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China.
