PROFITS in the clothes-making sector, one of Singapore’s oldest industries, are growing by leaps and bounds, even as other sectors struggle to survive.
In 2001, Singapore-owned textile and apparel companies exported S$4.2bil (RM8.82bil) worth of goods, with their factories in 20 countries responsible for about three quarters of this amount.
