PHNOM PENH: Pro and anti-government demonstrators brawled during celebrations yesterday that marked the overthrow of Cambodia’s genocidal Khmer Rouge regime by neighbouring Vietnam.
An estimated 1.7 million people died in Cambodia’s killing fields before the Khmer Rogue was ousted on Jan 7, 1979 by an invading Vietnamese army, which then occupied the country for 10 years.
