IPOH: A 26-year-old disabled man who was reported missing after leaving his home in Kampung Batu 8, Jalan Tanjung Tualang, Batu Gajah, on Monday (Sept 28) has been found.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said that the victim was found on Wednesday (Sept 30) at about 3.37pm by members of the public after he was spotted waving for help by the roadside.
"The victim, who also suffers from asthma, was reported missing from his home and was believed to have entered the oil palm plantation behind the house.
“The victim’s older brother lodged a police report after realising that the victim was missing and that the back door of the house was open,” he said in a statement.
He added that the search-and-rescue operation resumed at 8am on the third day (Sept 30) with personnel at the scene.
He said that the team then received information from villagers that the victim might have gone to one of the houses to take a shower.
"However, the homeowner initially did not recognise him as the missing person.
"By the time the homeowner realised, the victim had already left and entered a forested area beside the palm oil plantation, estimated to cover about five acres," he said.
He added that the location where the victim was found was about 1.2km from his home.
Sabarodzi said the victim was handed over to the police before being taken to Batu Gajah Hospital for further treatment related to his asthma.
