JOHOR BARU: A factory production operator died after the motorcycle he was on collided with a trailer on Wednesday (July 29) at 4.45pm.
Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Azrul Hisham Mohd Shaffie said the incident took place at KM11 of the Pasir Gudang Highway towards Perling.
“Preliminary investigation found the 23-year-old victim, a local man, was riding home to Kulai after work in Pasir Gudang,’’ he said in a statement on Thursday (July 30).
ACP Azrul Hisham said upon arriving at the scene, the victim was believed to have squeezed between a trailer and another vehicle.
He said that the victim fell and was struck by the trailer.
“The victim suffered injuries to his head and right hand. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the assistant medical officer,’’ said ACP Azrul Hisham, adding the body has been sent to Sultan Ismail Hospital for post-mortem.
He said following the incident, the trailer driver did not stop at the scene. It was believed that the driver was unaware of the accident and continued driving.
ACP Azrul Hisham said witnesses only saw the trailer but could not see or identify the plate number, and police are currently tracking the trailer and the driver.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 and called upon witnesses to come forward to the Johor Baru South Traffic Police Unit or contact the investigating officer, Insp Dayang Azeimah Awang Sebeli at 017-3064779.
