KOTA KINABALU: An attempt to smuggle 2,425 litres of petrol, believed to be bound for a neighbouring country, was foiled after marine police seized the fuel from an unmanned wooden boat in waters off Pulau Igang-Igang on Sabah’s east coast.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) ministry’s Semporna branch said that the petrol was found stored in 97 jerry cans on the boat fitted with a Yamaha 200‑horsepower outboard engine.
