Retired policeman found dead in Melaka home

MELAKA: A retired policeman was found dead in a house in Taman Bukit Katil here last Sunday (May 17) after neighbours detected a foul smell coming from the residence.

Police said a post-mortem conducted at Melaka Hospital found that the victim died of a heart condition.

Melaka Tengah district police chief ACP Christopher Patit said police received information through a MERS999 call at about 6.30pm and dispatched a team of officers to the scene.

"The Fire and Rescue Department was later called in to break open the door of the house before the 64-year-old man was found lying face down in the living room.

"Preliminary checks conducted by the investigating officer and personnel from Melaka Hospital found that the man had died, while a physical examination of the deceased also found no signs of foul play," he said in a statement on Tuesday (May 19).

Christopher said neighbours reported that the victim, who lived alone, had not been seen leaving the house for four to five days. – Bernama
