SEPANG: A total of 10 Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 vessels, including those carrying four Malaysians, are continuing their voyage to Gaza, says Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC) director-general Datuk Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby.
He said SNCC had confirmed the vessels were currently in Red Zone 2, about 100 nautical miles from the Gaza coast, and were expected to arrive within about nine hours if no disruptions occur.
"Based on the estimated distance to Gaza and a travelling speed of about 15 kilometres per hour, or around eight knots, we expect them to arrive in another nine hours. It will be a very tense period.
"These final hours mark the last stretch for these young Malaysians, whom we should be proud of for remaining steadfast and continuing their mission without turning back,” he told a press conference here on Tuesday (May 19).
Sani Araby said the vessels still en route to Gaza were Alcyone, Andros, Cabo Blanco, Don Juan, Elengi, Girolama, Kasr-i-Sadabad, Lina, Sirius and Zefiro.
He also confirmed that the four Malaysians involved in the mission remained safe, namely Hareez and Chin aboard Alcyone, Syed Amirul on Don Juan, and Noor Thanisah on Zefiro. – Bernama
