11-year-old student injured in fall while retrieving shoes from school roof thrown by another student

MELAKA: A student in Year Five at a school in Batu Berendam was urgently transported to the hospital following an incident on Wednesday, after he fell from the corridor of the school building

It is understood that the 11-year-old male student fell while attempting to retrieve his shoes, which had been thrown onto the building's roof by another student.

The source said he learned about the incident from his younger brother when he picked up the child from school.

“The incident occurred at midday, when all the students were preparing to go home from school.

"The student who fell was believed to be trying to retrieve his shoes that were thrown onto the roof before slipping and falling," he told Sihar Harian on Thursday (May 7)

He said the incident is thought to have occurred during rainy weather, which rendered the floor and roof wet and slippery.

The current condition of the child remains unknown.

Meanwhile, Central Melaka District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit confirmed receiving a report regarding the incident.

He said further investigations were still underway before any official statement was issued.
