KL Rain Rave showcases Malaysia’s unity, boosts tourism, says Nga

PETALING JAYA: The success of the KL Rain Rave Water Music Festival promotes tourism and local businesses while demonstrating that Malaysia embraces unity, says Nga Kor Ming.

The Housing and Local Government Minister said the event attracted 80,000 participants from around the world and 200,000 online viewers.

“Malaysia Truly Asia is not a slogan but our culture and way of life. Diversity is our strength,” he said in a statement on Facebook on Sunday (May 3).

Nga also echoed the views of Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Tiong King Sing.

“Just as our Tourism Minister Tiong said, for those who wish to come, we welcome you.

“For those who disagree, it is your right to choose to stay at home and not to come. Simple as that.

“In a multiracial country like Malaysia, we choose to respect and appreciate each other as long as it follows the law,” he said.

He added that Malaysia belongs to all Malaysians, who comprise 54 ethnic groups and races.

“Respect others as you wish to be respected. We are strong because we are together,” he said.

Nga also thanked all workers and Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) officers who kept the streets clean after the major event.

“These unsung heroes are worthy of praise, and we salute and thank you for helping to keep our city clean.

“However, for those litterbugs, sorry. We have your records and are going after you,” he said.
