Four teens detained over alleged bullying of 12-year-old at Melaka orphanage

MELAKA: Four teenagers have been detained for allegedly bullying a Primary Six pupil at an orphanage in Pantai Puteri, Tanjung Kling.

Melaka police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the suspects, aged 15 and 16, were arrested at about 3.45pm on Thursday (April 30).

"My men acted on a police report lodged by the victim’s mother on April 29 before arresting all those involved in the alleged bullying case," he said on Saturday (May 2).

DCP Dzulkhairi said the 12-year-old victim was assaulted, kicked, and had his head forced into a pail of water before being dragged across the toilet floor.

He said the suspects are students at a secondary school here, while the victim is a primary school pupil.

"The suspects and the victim know each other as they lived at the same home," he said.

DCP Dzulkhairi added that urine tests conducted on all four suspects came back negative for drugs.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 507B of the Penal Code for bullying.
