Six motorcycles popular with collectors stolen from Taipan 2 workshop

SEREMBAN: Six Yamaha RXZ motorcycles, a model currently experiencing a massive surge in collector demand, were reported stolen from a workshop in Taipan 2 in Senawang near here.

Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Azahar Abdul Rahim said the workshop owner lodged a report at around 1am on April 13 upon discovering the break-in.

"Preliminary police investigations revealed signs of a break-in at the premises.

"We also found blood spots at several areas inside the workshop," he said in a statement.

The motorcycles belonged to the workshop owner's clients

ACP Azahar said the losses were estimated to be around RM60,000.

He said the owner claimed the motorcycle keys had been left in the ignition. Also reported stolen were motorcycle spare parts and two helmets.

The case, he said, is being probed under Section 379A of the Penal Code for theft of a motor vehicle or any of its component parts and Section 457 for break-in.

He urged anyone with information on the case to contact investigating officer ASP Mohamad Zawahir Zainuddin at 019-771 9434 or 06-679 2222 to assist in investigations.

Checks showed that standard restored RXZ models sell between RM12,000 and RM25,000 while rare and specialised editions can go from RM40,000 to RM100,000.
