Sentul cops investigating rape, assault allegations after victim files report

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have launched an investigation following rape allegations by a victim here.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Basri Sagoni, in a statement Tuesday (March 3), said that the police received a report by the 44-year-old complainant stating that on Feb 25 she was physically assaulted by man that she knew in her home in Kampung Batu Muda.

"The next day at the same location, the victim said that the suspect had forced himself onto her and raped her. This then led to further injuries including to the face, back and neck areas.

"Investigations showed that the victim had known the suspect since January this year.

"They were only acquaintances and they were not married," he said.

He added that the suspect had stayed over at the victim's residence several times.

"The incident occurred after the victim's 10-month-old baby started crying, leading to the attack and injuries. She was also threatened and was instructed that if she told anyone about the attack, she would 'tahu la nasib kau, aku boleh buat apa apa' (know your fate, I can do anything I want), causing her to fear for her safety," he said.

A medical examination was then conducted at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital with the report stating that it did not detect any penetration as alleged by the victim.

"The case is still being investigated and has been classified under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code. Efforts to trace down the suspect are still underway," he said.
