KUALA LUMPUR: A series of anti-narcotics operations by Bukit Aman have led to seizures of drugs worth about RM200mil.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said in the first raid in Bentong on Jan 30, three men were arrested at a rest stop.

Following this, he said police found a car parked in Jalan Kuchai Lama here with 255 packages of suspected methamphetamine, with the drugs valued at RM13.25mil.

Comm Hussein said checks showed that the group, which had been active since last year, used carparks as drop-off points for drugs, with other members of the syndicate driving away the cars without direct contact with the drugs.

The second operation led to the discovery of about RM180mil in drugs, including ecstasy pills and MDMA.

“Two raids were conducted between Jan 31 and Feb 2 with three suspects arrested in the Klang Valley.

“The first raid was at a house in Kepong where a local man and a foreign woman were caught,” he told a press conference at the federal police headquarters yesterday,

Checks at the home led to a cache of illicit drugs, which included 843.8kg of suspected MDMA powder and 325.2kg of Erimin 5 pills. Follow-up action led to the arrest of a local woman in Subang Jaya.

“The first suspect acted as the syndicate leader and organised the transport of the drugs in and out of the country. The other two were his lovers and also members of the syndicate.

“Their modus operandi included using rented houses in the Klang Valley as storehouses before distribution to the local and international markets,” he said.

The third operation saw the thwarting of drug mules at the KL International Airport, with raids conducted on Feb 2 and Feb 3 leading to the arrest of six suspects.

Comm Hussein said police found 33kg of marijuana buds in the suitcases of three of them, who included two suspected to be drug mules.

“The mules were about to fly to the United Kingdom. They were paid around RM10,000,” he added.

Follow-up raids were held in Bandar Damai Perdana, Taman Equine and Bayan Lepas, leading to the arrest of three more suspects and additional drug seizures.

In total, police seized about 188kg of marijuana buds worth RM15mil.

“It is believed that the drugs were brought in via illegal routes in Chuping near Padang Besar in Perlis, and sent to the Klang Valley to be sold at both the local and international markets,” said Comm Hussein.
