KUALA LUMPUR: The high- impact digital creative and animation sector has been identified as among the new focus areas in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) agenda to drive the development of the nation’s human capital.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic) said this sector is an economic ecosystem capable of producing skilled talent, creating high-value job opportunities and elevating Malaysia’s image on the global stage.
“Earlier today, I received a briefing on a new initiative involving a national project related to TVET, designed to drive human capital development, particularly through a high-impact digital creative and animation industry approach.
“This approach, which links training, industry and the creation of intellectual property, should be explored seriously and in stages,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday, Bernama reported.
Ahmad Zahid said the TVET agenda will continue to be strengthened to remain relevant to future industry needs, including the rapidly growing digital creative sector.
In Budget 2026, the government announced an allocation of RM7.9bil for TVET.
The increased allocation is aimed at training more local talent to meet the demands of high-growth industries as well as support high-priority sectors.
