KOTA KINABALU: Qualified Sabahans should be more open and prepared to accept placements outside the state for high-ranking positions in the federal civil service, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
“When offered positions, including high- ranking roles, even if the placement is in the Peninsula,
They should accept them,” Hajiji said during a courtesy call by SPA Malaysia Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus, at his office in Menara Kinabalu on Thursday (Jan 22).
“This will allow more Sabahans to serve and contribute within federal departments,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Jailani shared that the trend of Sabahans applying for the federal civil
service has shown an increase compared to previous years.
He said that, on average, approximately 2,000 Sabahans were appointed to the federal civil service
annually, primarily to serve within the state.
To facilitate recruitment and interviews, he announced that SPA Malaysia would open a new interview centre in Sabah this year at the Keningau Urban Transformation Centre (UTC).
“Currently, SPA interview centres in Sabah are located in Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, and Tawau,” said Ahmad Jailani.
