Bukit Aman records statements from editors

PETALING JAYA: Bukit Aman has recorded statements from two China Press editors regarding the alleged misinterpretation of a royal statement made by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, during the opening of the Parliament’s new session.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Comm Datuk M. Kumar said the statements were recorded at about 1pm yesterday.

“The case is being investigated by the Bukit Aman’s Classified Criminal Investigation Unit, D5 Division, under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

“The investigation is still ongoing, and the public is urged not to speculate on the matter while the police complete it to respect the principles of criminal justice in this country,” he said yesterday.

On Tuesday, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission was also investigating the online report from China Press.
