Petronas Dagangan Bhd celebrates Malaysians through Mesra loyalty rewards

PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB) celebrated the winners of the Ganjaran Lebih Bermakna (GLB) phase 2 campaign, rewarding Mesra members who fuelled via Setel with grand and category prizes, including free fuel, Mesra points and Visa travel vouchers.

Strengthening customer connections

At the prize presentation ceremony, PDB regional retail for central region senior manager Hafishul Shuib said the GLB campaign was designed to recognise Malaysians who make PETRONAS part of their everyday journeys.

“We organise events like this to strengthen the bond between PETRONAS and our customers,” he said. “Through campaigns like this, we hope more people can experience the quality of PETRONAS and the friendliness of our station staff.”

He noted that digital tools such as Setel have enhanced the refuelling experience, enabling motorists to pay for fuel, earn Mesra points and track their transactions seamlessly in a single app.

Customer perks

PDB’s communication and campaign management senior manager Irnie Amelia Zainal said the GLB campaign was designed to celebrate customers from all walks of life who have made PETRONAS part of their daily routines.

“This contest isn’t just about winning – it’s about giving our customers something that can genuinely add value to their lives,” she continued.

She also encouraged motorists to make the most of the Mesra Rewards programme, which is free to join via the Setel app.

Members earn points with every fuel-up which can be converted into e-wallet balance or redeemed for vouchers, merchandise, Cafe Mesra treats, merchandise or even for charitable giving.

The app also provides clear record of their points, transactions and campaign updates, making it an all-in-one companion for Malaysian motorists.

“Every fuel-up earns points and those transactions are what help us identify and reward our loyal customers,” she added. “So, if you’re not a member yet, now’s the best time to join and stay tuned for our next campaign.”

How to qualify

The GLB Phase 2 campaign, which ran from Sept 1 to Oct 31, was open exclusively to Mesra Rewards members.

To participate, motorists needed to fuel up with a minimum of RM45 via the Setel app. Setel transactions automatically recorded entries for the monthly prize draw and linked them to each user’s Mesra ID.

For the Visa Grand Prize category, customers had to fuel up using their Visa card via Setel, which ensured transactions were counted specifically in that category. This distinction kept the different prize pools clearly defined.

Grand and category prizes

The GLB campaign featured several prize categories. The grand prize was two years of free fuel, while motorcycle category winners received 100,000 Mesra points each, equivalent to RM1,000, and three lucky winners walked away with a RM20,000 Visa travel voucher each.

The travel voucher can be used for one major holiday or multiple smaller trips, giving winners the flexibility to plan their dream vacations.

However, the full RM20,000 must be redeemed in a single transaction when claiming the prize. These prizes recognise everyday loyalty while offering both practical benefits and memorable experiences for PETRONAS customers.

Winners stories

F&B owner Len Chia Ron was completely surprised when he received the news.

Winning two years of free fuel was both a pleasant shock and a practical benefit, helping him manage his daily commuting and business travel needs.

Pensioner Nor Latifah Yaacob, 63, expressed her gratitude, “I’m truly thankful for this prize and for the excellent service at PETRONAS stations over the years,” she said. She noted that the helpfulness of station staff and the cleanliness of facilities have been consistent reasons for her loyalty.

Smart refuelling with Setel

For added convenience, PETRONAS has integrated the government’s Budi Madani RON95 fuel subsidy programme (Budi95) into the Setel app.

Eligible motorists can check their subsidy status, link their IC number and view their Budi95 usage directly through Setel.

The subsidy is automatically applied at the pump only after the verification process in Setel has been completed, and the fuel purchase must be made through the app.

Users can monitor their Budi95 balance, view past transactions and track spending all within the same platform they already use for payments and rewards.

This integration reflects PETRONAS’ continued effort towards making every day refuelling simpler, smarter and more accessible for Malaysians on the go.

What started as a routine stop at the pump turned into a moment that reminded these winners how even the simplest everyday habits can lead to something truly rewarding.
