Stall helper pleads guilty to raping teenage girl

SEREMBAN: A 21-year-old stall helper pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court here to raping a 16-year-old girl.

Mohamad Hakimi Suhaimi Abdul Muhaimin was charged with raping the teenager in a rented room at a rest and recreation area along the North-South Expressway near Nilai between 8.30am and 9.15am on Dec 24 last year.

The offence under Section 376(2)(d) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between 10 and 30 years and whipping, upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni requested the court set a date for sentencing, pending submission of a report from the Social Welfare Department.

She asked judge Surita Budin to set bail at RM20,000 in one surety.

She also asked the court to order Mohamad Hakimi to stay away from the victim.

Mohamad Hakimi’s mother, who was present, asked the court for a lower bail as her husband, a factory worker, is the sole bread winner in the family earning about RM2,000 a month.

Bail was set at RM6,000 in one surety, with Feb 11 fixed for sentencing.
