TAMIL education non-governmental organisations and Indian organisations have urged the Education Ministry to acknowledge and recognise the students who bagged 80 gold medals in an international robotics competition, Malaysia Nanban reported.

A total of 24 students from Tamil schools in Penang brought home 80 gold medals in various categories in the World Robot Games 2025 in Taiwan recently.

The parents, teachers and leaders such as Penang state exco member Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu, along with the Penang Education Department, were instrumental in helping the students succeed in the event, they said.

The achievement was a glorious moment for Tamil schools and the country on the international stage, yet it received no acknowledgement from the ministry, the organisations said.

Robotics, automation and innovation are essential for the country’s future and students must be encouraged to participate in these fields, they added.
