Foreign worker quota under Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry almost filled

KUALA LUMPUR: Applications for hiring foreign workers in the services sector under the purview of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry are nearing the government-approved quota for 2025.

The Home Ministry said the quota for the sector, capped at 30,000 workers, is close to being fully utilised.

"As a result, applications for foreign worker employment quotas for the services sector overseen by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry submitted through the Home Ministry's one-stop centre for foreign worker management will be closed earlier than scheduled, effective Dec 26," the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 24)

However, applications for foreign worker quotas in other approved sectors and subsectors will remain open until Dec 31, subject to existing conditions.

"Employers who intend to hire foreign workers in these sectors are advised to ensure their applications are submitted before the stipulated closing date, read the statement.

It added that employers could refer to the official websites of the Home Ministry and Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, as well as official announcements issued on government channels.
