SHAH ALAM: A drug syndicate, catering to Klang Valley drug users, has been busted with the seizure of drugs worth RM10.4mil.
The dragnet also saw two local women, who earned RM5,000 a month for packaging the drugs, rounded up in the raid, along with a foreign man.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the state Narcotics Crime Investigation Department uncovered the racket following a raid on a three-storey terrace house in Kajang on Dec 8.
“The residence was used as a storage and packaging centre for various types of drugs.
“Seized items include powdered and ecstasy pills, ketamine, syabu, yaba pills, cannabis buds and liquid ecstasy,” he told a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters yesterday.
Comm Shazeli said all three suspects, aged between 40 and 45, were screened and tested negative for drugs.
He said the two women have criminal records related to drug offences.
“We do not rule out the possibility of human trafficking involvement due to the syndicate’s large distribution network.
“Initial investigations showed that the foreign man arrived in Malaysia on Nov 25 from an East Asian country.
“We are conducting checks with the Immigration Department on the authenticity of the travel documents as his passport shows no entry stamp,” he said.
“We are still tracking down the remaining members of the syndicate,” he added.
In an unrelated case, Comm Shazeli said police have not ruled out the possibility that recent shootings in Klang might be linked to gang activities.
“No arrests have been made so far but we are in the midst of gathering intelligence.
“Follow-up investigations are underway,” he said.
On Nov 13, a shooting was believed to have occurred at a petrol station in Klang, which went viral on social media.
A one-minute, 17-second video, recorded by a passer-by, shows a car attempting to flee while being blocked by other vehicles at the location.
In the footage, a white vehicle, believed to be driven by the suspect, is seen speeding away after the incident while a person, said to be the victim, lies on the ground.
The other shooting incident on Nov 29 involved a man who was killed inside a four-wheel drive vehicle.
A video of the victim, lying motionless in the seat, has also gone viral on social media.
