Sabah CM Hajiji orders GLC heads to submit performance reports every three months

KOTA KINABALU: The state government has directed the heads of all government-linked companies and statutory bodies in Sabah to submit written performance reports every three months directly to the Chief Minister, starting next year.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor (pic) said the move was intended to ensure the state government received timely and accurate information on project progress, financial health, service delivery and the overall performance of each organisation.

“This measure is crucial to monitoring the performance of every entity,” he said after chairing the state Cabinet meeting here on Wednesday (Dec 10).

Hajiji warned that any GLC head who failed to submit their reports, did not meet their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) or showed unsatisfactory performance would have their position reviewed, including reassignment or termination.

He called on all organisational heads to establish clear and measurable KPIs aligned with their respective mandates.

“All projects, initiatives, programmes and expenditures must adhere to professional governance standards, including financial integrity, transparent implementation and accountability to the people,” he said.

Acknowledging that each GLC and statutory body has different mandates - some focused on commercial returns and others on social services - the Chief Minister stressed that all entities were equally responsible for demonstrating high levels of commitment, efficiency and integrity.

“Every appointed CEO, GGM and GM must contribute responsibly, as expected by both the government and the people, to help drive Sabah’s progress.

“With more structured monitoring and stronger accountability, the Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 agenda will be implemented more effectively and deliver direct benefits to the people of Sabah,” he added.
