PETALING JAYA: An allocation of RM200,000 to install more solar-powered street lights along the main road linking Kangkar Bahru and Yong Peng was announced on Monday (Dec 8).

The announcement, made by MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, seeks to put an end to the woes of villagers who are concerned about road safety when travelling the road, especially at night.

Dr Wee, who is also Ayer Hitam MP, said this initiative is one of the steps taken to make the journey safer and more comfortable for everyone.

"Your voices guide our work and together, we will continue improving our community," he said in a statement on Facebook.

Dr Wee, earlier on Monday evening, stopped by Kampung Baru Kangkar Bahru to distribute the 2026 calendars and enjoy a cup of tea with the villagers.

He also thanked all the residents who came out to chat, share stories, and offer feedback.

"As always, the warmth and sincerity of the community made the visit especially meaningful," he said.

Also present at the visit was Yong Peng assemblyman Ling Tian Soon.
