PENAMPANG: A light hearted moment took place at a polling station here when homegrown singer Stacy Anam (pic) forgot to bring her identification card when casting her ballot.

Stacy admitted to being nervous as she was casting her vote for the first time, and thought she had misplaced her IC after waking up late.

“Turns out, my IC was with my mother and we live near the SM St Michael polling station, which is also my alma mater,” said Stacy when met yesterday.

“Thankfully I wasn’t expelled from my kampung,” the 35-year-old singing sensation quipped.

While Stacy’s brother had gone back for her MyKad, the singer waited at the polling centre and accommodated excited fans who were eager to snap selfies with her.

According to Stacy, she has not visited her alma mater since she was 16 years old and she felt nostalgic when meeting her former teachers and principal.

She said this was the first time she was voting because she just realised the importance of her vote in an election.

“Only during elections, people have the power. I felt it was a wasted opportunity that I did not vote previously,” said Stacy, who explained that due to conflicting schedules, she could not vote in the past.

Describing waiting for the outcome of the polls as similar to watching a football match, the singer said that no matter who is elected in Moyog, locals must be united.

“Don’t let politics divide us. No matter what happens, families, relatives and friends should not fight,” she said.
