Wanted parolee with 16 prior offences nabbed for suspected break-in

TANGKAK: A man with a criminal record of 16 prior offences has been arrested in connection with a break-in at the Tangkak District Council (MDT) office last month.

Tangkak OCPD Supt Roslan Mohd Talib said police arrested the 28-year-old suspect at Azalea Court Apartments in Bandar Tasik Puteri, Rawang, Selangor on Wednesday (Nov 19).

“He was arrested at 4.05pm. The suspect’s record has 16 previous cases, including for housebreaking and theft,” he said here on Thursday.

Supt Roslan added that the suspect was also a conditional release parolee who had been on the run since Oct 4, 2025.

He said investigations revealed that the suspect, who is divorced, had been living with a woman at the flat in Rawang, he added.

“Although the suspect is not a drug addict, he is actively involved in housebreaking, office and shop burglaries, as well as motorcycle theft,” he added.

Supt Roslan said the case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 14 years. For repeat offences, offenders may also face fines or whipping

A video showing a man breaking into the MDT office at 5am on Oct 28 went viral earlier.

The incident was captured on the office’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
