Selangor MB office rejects malicious WhatsApp allegations

PETALING JAYA: The Selangor Mentri Besar office has dismissed recent allegations circulating on WhatsApp as malicious and politically motivated.

In a statement on Sunday (Nov 16), the office said the claims, which reportedly involved a government officer, were spread through an unofficial WhatsApp group while the Mentri Besar was presenting the Selangor Budget 2026 in the state assembly.

"These allegations are clearly defamatory, misleading and without any factual basis," the statement said.

The office added that the claims were designed to distort public perception and were unrelated to the state’s governance agenda.

It said the officer involved would be filing a report with the authorities to address the falsehoods.

"The purpose of this action is to ensure accountability and to refocus attention on developing the state and uplifting the people, rather than engaging in immature political tactics," the statement added.

The Selangor Mentri Besar office urged the public to disregard the WhatsApp messages and focus on verified information regarding the state government’s initiatives.
