Sabah governor’s two sons face multi-cornered contests in Sindumin and Sg Manila

KOTA KINABALU: The eldest son of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah, Tun Musa Aman, is facing a 10-corner fight in the state seat of Sindumin.

Yamani Hafez, contesting under the Pakatan banner, is up against Parti Warisan’s Yusri Pungut, Sabah STAR’s Moktar Matussin, Parti KDM’s Sani Miasin, Dayang Syafiqah of Perikatan, three independents and candidates from Parti Impian Sabah and Parti Kebangsaan Sabah.

When named as the Pakatan candidate, Yamani said the nomination is not only an honour but also a bigger responsibility for him to fight for the rights of Sabahans and help the people of Sindumin have their voices heard.

In Sungai Manila, Musa’s younger son, Hazem, is facing four others in a five-cornered contest. Hazem, who arrived at the Libaran Multipurpose Hall as early as 8.30am on Saturday (Nov 15), was accompanied by supporters and proposers.

His nomination was accepted along with those of Irian Nanang (Parti Impian Sabah), Sittinara (Parti Warisan), Yusri Abu (Perikatan), Zaini Tiksun (Barisan) and Faizal Wahab (Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah).

The incumbent, Datuk Mokran Ingkat of Barisan, is not defending the seat.

Earlier, Hazem hoped voters would make sound judgments when choosing who should represent their constituencies, adding that his identity as the son of the Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri should not be a factor. He pledged to drive development in the constituency if elected.
