Sabah polls: Barisan adds four candidates


KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Barisan Nasional has announced four additional candidates for the Nov 29 election to strengthen its line-up and ensure broader representation across the state.

Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said the move followed recent developments and discussions aimed at reinforcing the coalition’s preparedness ahead of the 17th Sabah state election.

"The additional seats were decided in line with Barisan’s aspiration to ensure a more inclusive, balanced, and strategic representation that reflects the needs of the people and the political dynamics of the state," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 12).

The new candidates are Willey Lampaki (N06, Bandau), Rahmah Jan Sulaiman (N43, Kemabong), Datuk Chin Kim Hiung (N54, Karamunting), and Chaya Sulaiman (N70, Kukusan).

Bung Moktar said the additions underscored Barisan’s commitment to deliver capable and trusted candidates who can best serve the people’s interests.

He called on the coalition's machinery to intensify preparations and carry out coordinated and inclusive efforts to ensure victory.

"With these candidates, Barisan offers renewed and comprehensive leadership that not only strengthens political stability but also drives Sabah towards more inclusive development," he said.

Bung expressed confidence that the candidates would prove their capability and earn the trust of voters, ensuring Barisan’s success in the election.

On Sunday (Nov 9), Barisan announced that it would field candidates in 41 out of the 73 state seats.
