Foreign student falls to his death at Nilai apartment block

NILAI: A 26-year-old foreign student died after he was believed to have fallen from the 18th floor of an apartment block in Bandar Baru Nilai here.

Nilai OCPD Supt Abdul Malik Hashim said police received a call from residents at around 7am on Wednesday (Nov 12), and a team was sent to investigate.

"The victim was found sprawled on the fifth floor of the block where he lived in one unit with another student from the same country.

"Checks by our forensics team did not show any suspicious-looking external injuries on the victim," he said.

It is learnt that the victim was studying at a private institution of higher learning here.

Supt Malik said checks in the victim's unit also revealed that all his personal items were intact.

The victim's body was later sent to Hospital Rembau for a post-mortem to establish the cause of death.

For now, the case has been classified as sudden death as no criminal elements have been found so far, Supt Malik added.

"We hope the public will refrain from speculating out of respect for the victim's family and so as not to interfere with the ongoing investigation," he said.

He urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the district police station at 06-7902222 to assist in the probe.
